General Notes on Giving

Giving is a personal matter – each according to his or her ability, interest, and inclination. No gift is too small, or too large. The pride of participation in a lasting legacy for children and youth is what is important.

Memorial Plaques: Honoring Kiwanians

It's a Way to Say, “We'll Always Remember...”

Kiwanians contribute years of their lives to the Kiwanis organization, their club, and the community they serve. Kiwanians are good people, and members become good friends. We do not always have an opportunity to fully recognize how much our friends mean to us and to our clubs until it is too late.

It can be difficult to express how the club feels when a member passes away. However, the Pacific Northwest Kiwanis Foundation can provide a beautifully-engraved hardwood plaque dedicated to that member. The club can either present the plaque to the member's family or have it mounted in a place of honor.

Supporting Children and Youth

Memorial plaques are available through donations of $100 or more. Because the Foundation relies primarily on accrued interest to support its programs, a memorial donation will provide a lasting legacy supporting scholarships, youth leadership programs, and other programs for children and youth in the Pacific Northwest.

It is fitting that a Kiwanian's passing be recognized through a donation to an organization such as the Pacific Northwest Kiwanis Foundation. Just as the member supported Kiwanis, the Foundation will use your donation to continue to support Kiwanis-sponsored youth and Kiwanis-linked programs for children and youth. Pass the torch to the Foundation, and the light will continue to shine.

Bequests and Planned Giving

There are many Kiwanians for whom Kiwanis is not just a hobby but a passion. There is only so much we can accomplish in our lifetimes, but the need for children and youth to have a helping hand continues long after our passing. A bequest or planned gift to the PNW Kiwanis Foundation is a wonderful way for Kiwanians to leave a lasting legacy that will continue to help children and youth right here in the Pacific Northwest.

There are potential tax benefits of making a bequest or planned gift, and there are many ways to make a gift including:

  • Bequest
  • Charitable Gift Annuity
  • Life Insurance
  • Charitable Remainder Trust
  • Revocable Living Trust
  • Retirement Plan Beneficiary

It is highly recommended that you consult a financial planner, tax specialist, and/or attorney to make sure the type of gift is right for you.
